JAZZ SEMICONDUCTOR SIGNS LONG TERM SUPPLY AND TECHNOLOGY AGREEMENT WITH SKYWORKS
Agreement Strengthens Jazz and Skyworks’ Foundry Relationship
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., Oct. 6, 2003 -- Jazz Semiconductor, the leading,
high-performance radio frequency (RF) and mixed-signal specialty foundry, and
Skyworks Solutions, Inc. (Nasdaq: SWKS), the industry’s leading wireless
semiconductor company focused on RF and complete cellular system solutions for
mobile communications applications, today announced the signing of a four-year
wafer supply and technology development agreement, expanding the companies’
foundry relationship.
Under the terms of the agreement, both companies will collaborate on silicon
germanium (SiGe) and BiCMOS technology developments that will enable
next-generation Skyworks product offerings. In addition, Jazz will manufacture
silicon wafers for Skyworks’ wireless products that include mixed-signal,
RF, and next generation DCR designs under very competitive pricing and capacity
guarantees. Skyworks’ collaboration with Jazz gives the company access to
Jazz’s premium, high-end RF and mixed-signal technologies in addition to
digital and analog complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) and bipolar
complementary metal oxide semiconductor (BiCMOS) processes.
"Skyworks is a key market leader in the wireless cellular market and
we’re very pleased to enter into this long-term commitment," said
Shu Li, president and CEO of Jazz Semiconductor. "It is our goal to
enable our customers with the most integrated specialty technologies while
