FROST & SULLIVAN NAMES JAZZ
SEMICONDUCTOR
2005 SILICON GERMANIUM FOUNDRY OF THE YEAR
Jazz Selected for its Outstanding Management, Competitive
Strategy and Customer Service Leadership
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., May 25, 2005 -- Jazz Semiconductor,
an independent semiconductor wafer foundry, today announced that
it was presented with the Frost & Sullivan 2005 SiGe Processes
Foundry of the Year Award. Jazz, initially founded as an independent
foundry in March 2002, has combined the offerings of a conventional
foundry with its mixed signal and RF design services. In selecting
Jazz for the award, Frost & Sullivan, an international strategic
market and growth consulting firm, acknowledged that the company
has established itself in the pure-play foundry market for the silicon
germanium (SiGe) process in a very short span and has demonstrated
its ability to provide multi-fab services.
According to Frost & Sullivan, a significant contribution
that Jazz has made toward promoting SiGe technology is in bringing
the multi-fab modular capability to the SiGe market. "The modularity
that Jazz offers in its process is witnessed in the four generations
of SiGe processes that are each targeted for a particular application
segment such as wireless communications, optical networking, or
consumer electronic devices," said Deepa Doraiswamy, Frost
& Sullivan semiconductor analyst.
"We are honored to be recognized by one of the
world's leading market consulting firms as SiGe foundry of the year,"
said Paul Kempf, Jazz chief technology and strategy officer. "This
award is further validation of our focus on analog and RF processes
for high performance applications."
Frost & Sullivan presents the Foundry of the Year
award each year to the company that has demonstrated unparalleled
excellence. The research firm rigorously analyzes specific criteria
to determine award recipients including a company's technological
innovation and leadership, customer satisfaction, success in gaining
new customers, new market penetration and market growth.
